It is during a child's early years that the foundations for strong physical and emotional health are established, and that this time can provide children with the resilience and skills necessary to navigate future life's complexities. Which is why a safe, caring and nurturing environment is key to future health.
At Whitehall Park School, we want children to aim high by developing confidence: we want them to believe they can achieve by not giving up in front of difficulties, and always doing their best. One of the affirmations we work with, which links to our school value 'aspiration' is: "the sky is not the limit".
What we offer
We provide a nurturing environment for children aged 3-4 years. The nursery is open from 7.45am-6pm, for 48 weeks of the year (regular free hours, plus optional breakfast and after school clubs) to support working parents who might need extended care.
As children become familiar with the setting, they can develop confidence in communicating, playing alongside others and doing more for themselves. Families are important partners in that process.
We offer 35 FREE hours a week if your child is full time, instead of the standard 30.

Why choose a nursery class in a primary school setting?
Children thrive through play, by observing and interacting with peers, through guided learning, and with direct, purposeful teaching. The Whitehall Park Nursery approach sees a balance between focused child-led exploration, play, and adult-led sessions.
Studies report that the transition from nursery to primary school is a pivotal milestone in the lives of young children, and research emphasises the impact on academic achievement, cognitive development and well-being. This is largely due to the continuity of the environment, relationships, and the curriculum which links in, and is integral part of, the school curriculum.
Our nursery class is housed in a specially designed environment, re-furbished in 2025, and with its own dedicated space and entrance; it is fully part of our school as this allows children to get used to their future environment.
